We are thrilled to have designed this latest state-of-the-art exhibit for the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. Modeled upon the theme of an abandoned mining settlement near the Namibian Skeleton Coast, this new site houses a large collection of African Penguins along with Cormorants.

The design of the overall exhibit provides a rare 360° public viewing experience that incorporates various landscape conditions, designated feeding demonstration areas, and a small amphitheater for educational presentations by the animal staff. Underwater and above water viewing is supplemented with dynamic water features such as wave actions and jet streams that help facilitate animal enrichment as well as an exciting guest experience.
Additional animal-visitor “beak-to-cheek” interaction is available through special Penguin Encounter tours which provide guided keeper experiences and special photo opportunities.
