Development

Developing to Stay Ahead of the Curve

CLR provides multiple internships each year and we have on-going Co-op programs with several universities. In addition, we actively support the continuing education of all our staff with licensure support and frequent lunch & learn sessions.

Conservation

Conservation and Sustainability in our Work

We learn in-depth about individual animal species, understanding their conservation status, wellness needs, and how to showcase their behavior to engage zoo visitors. Each team member works with other staff who love to explore the world and share our stories of what inspires us and CLR’s work. Together we help to develop themed landscapes and structures to support conservation storylines for a species or an area of the world.

Integration

Integrated Project Teams Create the Best Connections

We are in-house architects, landscape architects, and graphic designers. We work closely with each other and other specialty consultants such as Life Support System Engineers (pool systems) and Interpretive Designers. Our projects entail close integration with engineering systems for animal habitat barrier design, animal holding requirements, and site stormwater management.

Diversity

Unique Design Opportunities Make Interesting Career Opportunities

Our multidisciplinary staff come from different parts of the country and a variety of backgrounds. Our work takes us all around the world, enabling our staff to learn first-hand about regional cultures and different climates and geography. We are not a “one-size-fits-all” design shop. Our clients’ needs span all scales from site specific habitats to full campus master planning, and projects budgets from less than $1M to over $50M. Their diversity notwithstanding, our clients are all passionate about conservation and education, and they are driven to make the world a better place. We work closely with clients and other consultants to create unique buildings, habitats and experiences.
