Asia Exhibit

Opening on October 5, 2023, the ABQ BioPark Zoo has now been recognized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) with a significant achievement Exhibit Award for its Asia habitat expansion. This ground-breaking project is designed to provide the ability for fully rotational habitats for Snow Leopard, Malayan Tiger, Orangutan, and Siamang with a focus on training and enrichment for every species in multiple areas throughout the site. The main goals are to maximize the animals use of all five senses (includes addressing the needs of a visually impaired snow leopard), maximize horizontal and vertical space, provide choice and encourage a broad array of behaviors. This project has a unique blend of innovative flex habitat spaces that vary in size and composition maximizing animal well-being. Additional features include a new Asian Elephant overlook and event deck, integrated play and immersive forest exploration trails for guests, and a revenue generating marketplace.
