Como Harbor will be the new home and backdrop for the beloved Sparky show at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory
Project Type
In 2013, CLR completed an Action Plan for the Como Zoo in order to establish a general framework for campus priorities for the next 10-20 years, with a particular focus on programming and conceptualizing the next major exhibit – the Seal and Sea Lion Exhibit, or Como Harbor. CLR was then selected to design the exhibit itself.
Building upon a long standing tradition at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, Como Harbor will be the new home and backdrop for the beloved Sparky show. This show has touched multiple generations and has become a mainstay for the St. Paul community.
This expansive new habitat, located at the heart of the Zoo, features new pools, a covered amphitheater with seating for over 1000 visitors, expanded holding, restroom, filtration, and concession facilities. Guests will enjoy shows from multiple vantage points, both above and underwater, from the new amphitheater and viewing pavilion. Como Harbor transports its visitors to the rocky shores along the Pacific Northwest.
