Project Type
CLR provided the concept and schematic design for The Museum of Living Art (MOLA), the next generation of design for exhibits and architecture at zoological institutions around the world. A visually stunning architectural shell, designed by Gideon Toal, utilizes environmentally practical systems to showcase one of the world’s best breeding collections and conservation programs.
At the heart of the project are up-close visitor encounters with komodo dragons, tortoises, lizards, crocodilla, snakes and frogs, immersing visitors in the animal’s habitats such as temperate and tropical forests, deserts and swamps. These herpetarium encounters, throughout the four unique biome areas, enhance the visitor’s appreciation for the beauty of nature’s designs and help support the Zoo’s mission for recreation, conservation and education.
MOLA is home to more than 5,700 animals representing more than 250 amphibian and reptile species.
