Project Type
This project is a tribute to the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who united the Arab Emirates and was a visionary conservationist who saw great value in providing a place for his people to retain the roots of the Arabian peninsula’s flora and fauna. The North Kenya Safari was planned as one of 5 driving safaris along with 5 walking zoo experiences including the UAE World Desert.
The safari vehicles travel natural and themed trails through 148 acres of recreated Northern Kenya environment passing through a Western Highland Desert Wadi, a Lava Bed Barrens, a Riverine Woodland and Shrub Grasslands, making this parcel of land the second largest drive-through hippo exhibit in the world. Giraffe, hippo, white rhino, oryx, eland, gazelle, zebra, gnu, impala and ostrich roam freely among the trails. A highlight of the tour is a series of habitat pools. While drinkers and feeders are provided for the animals throughout the safari, the habitat pools are sized to accommodate a large number of animals in and around the pools. Visitors will be able to see animals up close at the pool and at a distance under the shade of trees.
