Growing up, going to the Toledo Zoo with my family was my favorite thing to do in the summer. Later on, I developed an interest in architecture, and I had no idea there was a career that could mix these two passions until I found CLR.
I love the challenge of researching different animal needs and meeting with zoo staff to figure out how the architecture of an animal’s habitat can benefit them and their keeper. I think we also have a great opportunity to make visitors feel immersed in the environments we create which makes for a special experience that hopefully leads to future architects, landscape architects, biologists, conservationists, and the like.
I like to get outside any chance I get, whether that’s hiking, fishing, playing golf, or walking my dog. As a new Philadelphia resident, I’ve also been enjoying trying all the restaurants around my neighborhood.
When I was younger, I used to catch frogs, toads, tadpoles, fish, turtles, or any other animals I could find, make aquarium environments for them, and release them a few days later. I guess you could say I was destined for this career path.
